Gregorio Luperón International Airport (POP), typically called Puerto Plata Airport is the airport closest to Sosúa and the main airport in the province of Puerto Plata. It is the 4th busiest in the country but one of the most expensive airports in the world to land.

he gallery above shows you a few pictures of the outside and inside of the airport. I like the airport, it is small, but well laid out, and comfortable. Outside is beautiful as you go get a taxi, you are greeted by an army of beautiful palm trees everywhere.

There is also an army of taxi drivers outside waiting for you – the price from the airport to Sosua is $25 USD. Ask them and make sure they quote you this price. Feel free to tip $1 – $5 if you want. Let me know in the comments below what you think of this airport if you’ve been there.
